Help....

think i may have a problem... As you can see from the picture below. The skimmer will fit in the sump area with only 1.5 inches from all four walls.
Also, with the adjustable riser pipe fully down. it is 12 inces high... that will give me 4 inches before the water overflow from my sump. the dimensions of my sump is 11.5Wx11.5Lx16H. Will this be a problem? Do i need to get a bigger and higher sump?
thank you

to a test run with just plain water. that way, you can dry it off and it will look as if it is not used.

Elan, dammit.... you're brilliant!!! hehheeheh, cant believe i didnt think of that. Thanks! just did a test run, everything looks okay.
Altough i spent $550 bucks on this skimmer, after watching it run... i still cant see much technology behind it compared to other low end skimmer. then again, i havent used any other skimmer...

Hey calvindo you are finally getting started. that is so great. My tank is still cycling. Here is a pix. I am getting this great piece of live rock in about a week. It is still curing. it has all these pink and orange colors in it. It is going to make my tank look not so empty. Then hopefully in about a week or 2 I can get my first fish. Hope you enjoy this as much as I am!!!

i'm new to this... to be honest, i dont know how much better the euro reef is, compared to low end skimmers. most people here say "get euro-reef, they are the best", that is the sole reason why i bought it... who knows... they probably work euroreef, hehehehehe
I always tend to want the best of everything, that is why i'm broke! :D But in this hobby, i know doing it right the first time around, is best.

the "best" is just opinions here and they change all the time. i have found out just cause it costs more dont mean its better. i bet that skimmer kicks ass but i would bet others do just as good for a little less money. but im like you i want the best myself so i know how ya feel lol

Calvin, I have seen a ton a people post about regretting not buying a better skimmer, I have yet to see a post about someone saying they wish they had bought a low end skimmer, Euroreefs are about the best out there.

Birdy what is "low end" ? do you think CPR is low end? a 30 dollar skimmer i can see is low end, but if i put a 500 dollar price tag on it, does that make it the best? my point was there are skimmers that skim with the best of them for less cash. i have seen lots of posts on here with ppl that DYI skimmers that work like a dream. shop read shop read shop read get the best bang for your buck and dont buy the first thing you find, most of the time you will just want another product and wish you didnt waste your money.

Yeah I know what you mean, I bought a really expensive heater and the piece of crap stopped working before I even had the chance to put any animals in. Then I found one that is half the price and works like a charm.

I consider low to be the below 100.00 range skimmers, like prizm and sea clone, it is not that they do not skim it is that they do not last and will stop working efficientely over time and that the upper end skimmers do seem to do a better job. I am not saying that you have to buy a 500.00 skimmer, but if you have the money and want the best then buy euroreef, there are plenty of other skimmers that will do a perfectly good job and I am sure plenty of homemade ones, but I wonder if after years of use if that will be the case. I was just saying that he shouldn't feel bad about his purchase it is an excellent skimmer with very good results. I doubt I ever have the money to buy such an expensive skimmer but if I did then that is the one I would buy. I think 9 times out of ten that you get what you pay for.

birdy,
your response is perfect... i was stuck on deciding on which skimmer to buy. i read on and on.... this message board to the next... did all my research via the internet.... I would come acrosee good remarks on a particular skimmer, then the next guy says "i wish i never bought this piece of junk skimmer". I guess the lower end product is not consistant in performance.
bottom line... i hear complaints from all sorts of protein skimmers. But have not heard any complaints on euroreef users. not one... That is basically the main reason why i made the purchase.
close your eyes, hand over your credit card and "JUST DO IT"! :D
