I just got done making this canopy it took about 2 hours to make. The only thing is I am gonna put the light on the top of it, so I was wondering if anyone has the dimensions for an Lunar Aqualight Deluxe Strip 48". I need to make the cut in the top but I am not getting my light until friday and I want to cut it now and get it all stained and urithaned before friday.

Here is the canopy with some stain on it.. Next I will be putting on some clear coat.. Does anyone think that I should paint the inside a gloss white to reflect the light better???

I painted the whole inside gloss white so that it reflects the light better.

It really doesn't take too much skills to make it. I only needed a chop saw, table saw and a finish nailer to make it. It's pretty easy to make..

flat white is your best bet. i have to go back and read my research material but there is a reason why gloss is not the best choice. i'll gt back to you as to why

You're being too modest. Yes, it takes skill to make something like that. ;) AND it takes tools. So then it takes 2 kinds of skills. 1) to operate the tools 2) to build and finish.
I've seen people with little to no skill (experience) attempt to build simple wooden objects that was... well, let's just say... it wasn't pretty. :scared:
Looks nice.

Well here is the finished canopy. I have the light installed and it is painted and stained.. Some of you may notice the top is light wood color and the stand is black, I will soon be making the stand light wood also.. Not my choice, but if you want to keep the wife happy so she will let you spend a little money, sometimes you must make a sacrifice..
sorry about the blurry picture

Krazy, I think it looks OK. You keep in your tank whatever you want to.

,I need to build me one soon. How much did it all cost?
The wood & hinges cost me $38.00 and the stain and Urithane cost me another $25.00. over all it cost about $63.00 I guess if you decide to build it out of a better quality wood rather than pine is would cost more, but not nearly as much as if you bought it made already..
