Here's another critter to id

I was watching my fish eat tonight and noticed tentacles sticking out of the sand. I then proceeded to fan some sand out of the way to reveal what is in the picture. Does anyone know what these are and should they be removed?

Does it look like this?

If yes, it's a spionid, a great little worm.

Weird looking. It encases itself in sand? How does it eat? Filter feed or scavenger?

I have never seen any out of the sand like in your picture.

Ya, it uses sand and a substance to kind of make a tube. They don't "pick around" like their cousins do, but wave in the current waiting for food particles to flow it's way. The tentacles you see there are the food catchers.
