Hermit Crab from beach...

Eight year old son just returned from trip to the beach with friend. He brought me back a hermit crab, about an 1-1/2" (size of the shell.) Question is, can I put him in my reef tank? Or should I put him in my FO tank? Or is it best to try and keep in in a small bowl?

A land hermit or one from the water?

He told me he find it out in the water buried in the sand. It appears to have spider like legs (similiar to a sally lightfoot) with small pinchers the same size.
Has been under water since he brought it home. I used some of the makeup water I keep around for water changes.

Do you have a way to show us a picture of it? Its hard to ID crabs since there are so many.

Currently not able to send photograph. Might be able to tomorrow or Tuesday. Have to wait on friend who has digital camera to return from weekend trip.

What color are his legs and pinchers?????

Legs and pinchers are a light tan

sounds to be a predatoray crab, he will go on a search and distroy mission..... NOT FOR SURE ON THIS ONE WITH OUT PIC........
