Hermit crab on steroids???

Just how big do these guys get?? I had a small hermit crab. Then he went looking for a new shell. He picked out kind of a large one (for the size he was then). Well, he looks like he's on steroids or something. He has grown quite large.
Should I be worried. So far he hasn't bothered the clown fish (2). Any thoughts on this?

I have a hermit crab that is huge also. He seemed to double in size in a week! I have false percula clowns and so far he has not bothered them. Also my crab seems to clean my coral beauty with his claws. It is really cool to watch but I am always afraid that the crab might decide one day that he is hungry

I have a scarlet crab that changed from a shell that was about 3/4 in long to a shell that is 2 3/4 in. That was crazy. He does not look that big to me.(except for the shell of corse) I found some shells at a local craft store. I thought they were kinda big but I put them in the tank anyway. Wouldn't you know one of my scarlets was sporting a nice new whit shiny 2 3/4 in shell the very next morning. I have another scralet that seems to be trying one on for size also. It has not yet changed but for the last 4 days it will not leave that shell alone.
