hermit crab shells...painted?

ok my girlfriend had a hermit crab in a little cage or whatever and she wants to know if she can put the painted shells she bought for the hermit crab into the saltwater tank so they will move into them?
Will there be dangerous stuff involved due to there being ppainted?

yep, don't put it in the tank. You don't know what kind of paint was used......I am an artist, take it from me, most paint is toxic and the toxins will let loose in the water, and the paint will probably come off the shell anyway. Don't do it.

If she likes pink, get some coralline covered shells.
