Hermit Crab

Does anyone know what kind of Hermit Crab this is? My buddy bought a bunch of Blue Legged Hermits and this one came in with them.

It has one big claw correct?If so it is what is commonly called a left handed hermit. Electric blues,halloweens and zebras are all left handed hermits.If threatened they use that big claw to close over the front of thier shell. As with any crab,excersise caution. I would keep him,I have electric blues and halloweens and they are good algae and leftover eaters. I have had no problems with them.

You pretty much just described him. What should I be carefull of?

You should always be careful with crabs,as they are opportunists. Sometimes when they get big they can become problematic.Like I said..I have'nt had any problem with mine. I have however had problems with some scarlets that got big,and some rogue hermits that were white and fuzzy.The electric blues and halloweens are far more expensive than a regular blueleg,so that was a good bonus.
