Put some shells in tank and theyll do themselves either taking the shell you put in or taking a snail shell.

do you know where i can get some....my hermits are about 1/2 inches only?

Mine have just moved into the shells of snails that have died. You can get hermit shells anywhere really

Most LFSs will give the shells away for free. Just ask around and put a bunch of them in your tank. Be sure to get different sizes, so that your hermits have different choices as they grow

When you snails start to disaper you need shells

and even them some are just mean and will "remove" a snail from its home. I got a bag of them from Walmart craft area, just get the non clear coated ones.
