hermit crabs killing Nassarius Snail?

i got 2x hermit crabs that have black legs and white rings (looks like zebra) and large claws, i noticed 1 of them is sit on top of a nassarius snail and trying to pick on it. after i replaced that zebra looking hermit i noticed my nassarius never fully come out of it's shell, and the same hermit came after the nassarius after an hour.
just wondering, will those zebra looking hermits kill my snails(eat meat?)? or they just try to get a new home?

The snail could have been dead already. They will pick the meat out of the shell. Cleaner shrimp do the same thing. They are scavengers and will eat what they can get.

the snails still moving, but it wont come out of the shell and move, just extend his tentacle thing and wave around

hmm I don't know then. I would keep an eye on it. I did see one of my snails eat my blue legged hermit crab. They are little though. The snail put its mouth over the whole shell and just sucked him right out of it. I am not sure on the larger hermits trying to kill the snail though. Sorry.

If the hermit has outgrown his shell and can't find a bigger shell then they will kill the snails for it. I have watched it happen in my tank. About 4 or my 22 nassarius snails got evicted within the last 2 months.

2 of my blue legs killed 2 bumble bee snails and now they have a pretty cool home. those things just happen

That is exactly why I no longer keep hermits in my main display tank, (they were banished to the sump. I bought 5 snails brought them home aclamated them put them in the tank, and all my hermits immediatly come out and killed them and ate them. then they took their shells. That was it. No more crabs for me!!!
I guess you could say I am crab free :hilarious
