how do you tell the difference from female and male hermit crabs? or can you?

I don't think there is a way to tell. Maybe someone else has a differant answer.

Please don't yell. We can hear you. The male crabs have an extra leg that lenthens when near a female crab. )

good question, i dont think there is a way to tell unless the crab is not inside its' shell. but i really dont know.
