Can anyone ID this hermit? He ended up getting brought into the tank with a group of blue legs by accident. He is at least 3 times the size of the blues and he started off their size to begin with. Click on the images for a larger version.
whew, I was afriad it may be one of these guys https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/204422/hermit-crab-identifications/40#post_1557940 tnt:I have 4 of these in my semi-aggressive tank. They're striped hermit or thinstripe hermit, clibanarius vittatus. They seem to grow very fast, not considered reef safe, and can reach the size of a tennis ball. I think they are a gulf species and are pretty common.
Tried to increase the brightness. It's hard to see the yellow/tan line that runs down his legs from this angle.
