Hermit lost his legs!

Hello all,
I don't mean to ask a stupid question but just before I went to work I saw a hermit crab on a rock and right below was the poor guy's legs!!!! is this normal????
My tank just finished the cycle about two months ago and I only have 4 Percula clowns in there so far.
Don't know much about crabs as you can see
I have a 150 gal fish only system.

Are you sure your hermit didn't just molt?It'll look like his front legs and claws came off w/ a clear base/shell at the end.

Thanks for the reply, I guess it is time to get some empty shells in that tank!
