Hermit magic?

Ive got 3 hermit crabs for my little nano
Ive seen some of them fighting last night
today i found a dead hermit body, out of the shell
apparently they fought for the bigger shell and one of them lost
but there are 3 hermits alive and well, occupying all 3 shells
what?
where did the 4th body come from? i havnt changed anything in the tank for a while. the dead hermit body looked fresh, i dont get it. what kind of crazy magic is this?

I remember that happening when I set up my first tank. My large blue
leg was scattered along the bottom and I thought damn the puffer finally got him. It is a molt I agree with dragracer. My blue is still crawling today and
actually molted again last week.

it was like, the whole body, complete with like, innners. ive seen molted from my brothers old tank... and thats not it...
