When your crabs molt should the old shell be removed from the tank? will it cause an amonia spike if its left in? I ask because my hermits seem to be molting pretty oftin and many times I cant get at the old shells..

No problem...leave them in. They like to switch shells now and then anyway and it will help cut down on them killing each other for new shells.
It won't cause an ammonia spike. :D

Some people take them out and some don't. I leave them in..great snacks for the other critters. I never had an ammonia spike. :D
