i wanted to add more hermits to my tank. I have 5 blues and was thinking of buying white reef or red hermits. ARe they compatible together?

IMO a Hermit crab is a hermit crab. It is true that scarlet legged ones can be more aggressive. With saltwater critters there is always a battle for territory.
Hermits get agressive fighting over shells. I have extra shells in the tank and can keep as many hermits and different types together I want with no trouble.
As long as you have enough algae for them to eat, keep as many as you need.

Yep,i have one now ,who just got done finishing off a blueleg,didn't even take his shell either.He's a trouble maker alright.I still like em though
