hermits?

i found a dead hermit in my tank 2 days ago and i only have 2 and i STILL have both of them crawling around my tank cleaning the sand bed and i still can't figgure out how a 3rd hermit got into my tank.......could it of been in with another hermit in it's shell or somethin? and how many shells to hermits should i have in my tank so no fighting breaks out between them? and i plan on buying 3 blue legs tomorrow and i only have 2 empty snells right now in there so how many more should i buy?

The hermit probably hitched along with any lr or ls you bought. As far as empty shells sometimes they won't help. My hermits ignored the empties and went after my bumblebee snails anyway.

Are you sure it wasn't simply a hermit crab's molting? They will leave a molting behind that will look almost identical to the hermit itself.

That's cleared that one up for me then, 5 hermits in, 3 dead hermits found, still 5 hermits in tank
They looked so real though
