Hi!

I just registered, so I am a newbie to this board! I finally decided to do a saltwater tank. I have a 125 w/ 3 yellow tangs, 1 blue damselfish & a percula clown. I have yet to buy the liverock, which I am finally going to buy this coming week! RIght now, I just have a sandbed Aside from fish, my husband & I have 5 cats, and 3 of them are bengals, hence my name Tigger"bengal".

welcome aboard!!, you're gonna love it here
3 tangs in a 125, they may do fine, just be prepared, when you add other fish, they may tend to get aggressive with the new additions, they generaly should be added last, but if you do have any problem, sometimes reaaranging your rock work confuses tehm into thinking they no longer have any territory and they will reestablish a new territory, i won't critisize and say that i wouldn't put 3 tangs in a 125 and go into alot of detail, i will just add that i feel that 3 of them should probably have more swim room
with the lr, make sure it is well cured, and only add small amounts at a time, adding too much or uncured lr could give you an ammonia spike, which you do not want in your tank right no(having fish) it could be lethal
and if you need anything, just ask

fshhub,
I've read on other boards that it's best to let the liverock sit in a rubbermaid tote until the amonia goes down, even if it's cured. I've been thinking of going this route .........

good idea, put a heater and pump in there for circualtion(powerhead) and make sure to go buy a new one(container that is), you don't want to use anythign that may have ever saw soap or detergents, nad even thouhgh going this route, i still would only add smaller amounts(to the tank, every week or 2), i have no idea how mcuh you want, but in a 125, i'd have 200 lbs, and i would not stick all of that into a tank at once, unless i had nothing live in there at all

Thanks for the welcome, everyone! :D Fishymissy recommended this site! :p Anyways, about the live rock: I am probably going to start out with 50 lbs of it, and then gradually add more as I can afford. Got any aquascaping ideas?

we can give all sorts of ideas, but it depends on 2 things ONLY, you and what you like once you see it, and the rock, shape and size, play a very important role in your building, but you will find what you like and the rock will accept jsut by trying, besides, you will do this, then rearrange, then rearrange again, until you are satisfied,
3 tips that i can offer, are to make sure to have holes for you fish to swim through, and many say to keep the back open, i think you only need to keeep it open ont the bottom, so you can get flow behind ti(with a powerhead) and so your cleaners can get back there to do their job, and BE CERTAIN that it is stable, fish and some inverts can knock over unstable rock
