 hello all.i have been into fish since i was about ten but it has always been freshwater.i now have an established fish only 55 gal saltwater tank.i just purchased a hi fin cardinal today. i tried to feed him the shrimp pellets but they go right to the bottom and he hasnt gone down there.i dont want him to starve so can somebody tell me what i can give him? should i wait to see if he starks checking the bottom or try an alternative?i also have a yellow tang, seahorse, yellow tail damsel, scooter blennie, and 5 baby hermit crabs.thank you.

My Hi fin cardinal ( Bangaii Cardinal ) is a pretty picky eater. Sometimes it will take flake food, but will ALWAYS eat frozen brine shrimp and mysis shrimp. But they must be warm. If I drop in a chunk of frozen ... it moves towards the food, then backs off.
I let the frozen shrimp thaw out in a little tank water for awhile, then use a pipette and drop them into the current.
The Bangaii feasts !
You might try that ;)

hi fin cardinals are strictly carnivores i have 1 and the only thing he will touch is meaty foods. brine shrimp, frozen clam, squid. also when u bought him was he the only one in the tank? i had 2 and 1 of them died :( he doesn't eat like he did so i'm going to buy another one soon i think he is lonely because they are known to be a schooling fish also
