No offense, but i can't make much sense out of this.
What is a "big ol' honkin' zit on his cheek" Do you mean he has a raised white lesion? when you say a swollen cheek, do you mean it was sticking out, or was his gill cover lifted up? Have you noticed this fish fighting w/ his fellow banggais or any tankmate?
May I ask what "I am not man enough to snatch him up and give him some fimgernail counseling" is?
so if you could please provide tank information, tank water paramters, tankmates, any other banggais? Any pertinant info. i suspect htis might be either a fighting lesion or a potential parasite.
