High Nitrate level?

Hi everyone,
I have a 30 gallon saltwater reef tank about two years old with no levels of nitrate, nitrite, or ammonia present since it was established. Today I took a reading of levels when i adjusted my salinity, and my Nitrate levels are as high as possible beyond the readable levels. I was wondering wether it would be possible to have a false positive on the test due to something in the water? I have re tested a few times with the same results.
Thanks in advance

Yes there are some medications that will give false positive. Did you check for ammonia and nitrite if you had a zero reading on them then it may mean bad test kit.

The test kit is a Red Sea Marine Lab and i've had it for about 6 months. My ammonia and nitrite are at zero.

do u see anything wrong with ur tank such as fish, inverts or corals dying? if not, then its proabably a bad test. very high nitrate will put a lot of stress on livestocks, so u will see it for sure.
