high ph and calcium levels

I was noticing my corals not doing well and had a couple snails die.
Tested the water and found the PH at 8.8 and Calcium at 540
Things I've changed recently is run carbon and used some Aiptasia treatment.
Any ideas on what is causing the levels to rise? and treatment? I'll be doing a water change tomorrow when I can get to the LFS for some RO/DI (free
)

Test the water before it gets into your tank just to get a baseline reading.
What are you using to kill aips? What salt are you using?

Didn't even think to test the water before, just assumed it was ok
...
I'm using Blue Life Aiptasia Control and Red Sea Coral Pro Salt (no salt the last change because the LFS gave me free Saltwater because the TDS was high on their RO/DI.)

It almost sounds like your salinity/SG might be too high based on your symptoms. Did you test the salinity or SG of the water in your tank? I also agree that you should test the LFS water before it goes in your tank, every time...

Last water change was 12/15/07
I used a hydrometer to test the salinity and it was 1.023 (has been testing good at the LFS with their refractometer) I'll bring a water sample to the LFS and need to buy my own refractometer.
Work keeps getting in the way, by the time I leave the LFS is closed. Maybe tomorrow I can sneak over. I need to find a get rich quick scheme that works so I can retire. Probably best to write my own scam oh I mean scheme.
