High pH? Dangerous?

I hope not, Mine has been 8.8 forever. It cant be good but everything is alive and actually doing quite well. Someone told me to get a PH Buffer to take it down. Ill watch this thread for suggestions.

mine was once at 7.8 and was told ..and did .. add sea-buffer to get it back to 8.2..it took about 2-3 days and doses to get it right and all has been well.yours is high and would think it needs to be at 8.2

8.8 is quite high. I think the recommended rage is 8.0 to 8.4. Did you do anything special before it went up (water change?) It is has been stable for a long time at this level, maybe it would be acceptable - but the fact that it jumped up suddenly is not a good sign. How much is you Kh? At least, you're not going to have any allergy in your tank at that level.

I bought that pH Alkalinity buffer from
Aquarium Systems. My pH was 8.0 for 3 weeks
and I wanted to bring it up to 8.2. So I
followed the instructions, and it said to
"add 1 tspoon" daily.
My snails die and now my feather duster looks
like crap. The damn bottle DOES NOT tell me
stop once I get the pH to my desired level.
As some pH bottles will maintain it at a
steady 8.2. So I pretty much messed up my pH
by adding that stuff by the day.
