sorry the pic is i little blurry. this hippo has been changing colors now for about a month. I asked the people a my LFS and they said that they have never heard of a hippo getting darker just lighter as they age. Does anyone know what is happing to him he was my first fish i ever bought, but i think he is nipping at some of my coral. It is either him or the trigger, when i find out its got to go.

I have to say that's a cool looking blue hippo. Wonder if the coral nipping is adding color cuz I've never heard of this either.

I've heard of hippo's eating xenia and other corals. My hippo has taken a couple of nips at my large derasa clam -- but hasn't continued or hurt my clam which I'm glad neither has to come out to go in the frag tank.

He might have to come out of the 265 gallon, and go in the 90 gallon but if he keeps messing with coral in there..... he might have to go.

I did a quick google and it would seem they change color when stressed. It was mentioned that the black stripes turned a pale yellow for someone else. That was due to lighting change. I wonder if the color change on yours is due to stress??
Any chance he is being picked on?

well if he did fall in love with the pink tail i hope he dosnt get love sick. I found my pink tail nipping at my montis. He is now back at the LFS.

I am not sure about the changing of colors, but noticed your trigger isn't a BlueThroat... Triggers are notorious for not being Reef SAFE, only Blue Throats are reef safe (in most cases), so it is most likely your trigger doing the nipping.

Yea. I think Im going to leave the whole trigger thing alone. Its just my luck I get a blur throat he will nip at everything too.

Also Iasked the other fish store that i go to and they said that the hippo could be trying to change ---, since there are two hippos in there. IDK

I had a Hippo tang eat all my xenia, then start on others... got rid of it, but I never had one turn color no matter what it eats.
