Hippo Tang & Ich Risk

I purchased a Hippo Tang last week and now have it in my QT undergoing Hypo. It was not sick, but I have been doing this with my new fish as an added safety measure and have been having good luck with it. I have read a few posts lately that say Hippo's are extremely susceptible to Ich and now I'm worried that he may infect my main tank if he comes down with Ich after I put him in. I have already been through taking everything out of my tank to catch all the fish for treatment and I do not want to go through it again. I have a UV sterilizer on the DT and I feed garlic treated foods. Am I worrying too much or should I bring back the Tang?

Hyposalinity should eliminate 99% of your risk of getting ich. As long as there is no ich in your tank currently and you properly quarantine any new arrivals for at least 3 weeks - you are at minimal risk for ich. You should never have the infection as this has to be introduced into your tank.
Keep the tang! It sounds like you are doing everything right.
