I recently bought some zoos and it appeared as though mini featherdusters were attached. but I am beginning to think they are not mini dusters as when they open up and touch my zoo's, my zoo's either close up or close their tenticles that are being touched.
I just noticed that there appears to be 2 kinds, one with feathery tenticles and one with tenticles more like an apatisia.
but the apatasia tenticle looking one is not the normal color of this critter. As this one has a white center and multiple colored tenticles
it also appears that it can retract as I was just watching it, to get a better description, then went back to my computer to type, then went back and one of them were gone.
the body also seems differnt as it tan in color and I could not see through it at all. it appeared to be the same color of the zoo's when they are closed up.
the feather tenticles look more like bristle worms , instead of the crown of a duster
the feathery tenticles do nto seem to bother the zoo's so I assume that they are fine.
it is hard to get a pic bc they are pretty small. I know this zoo rock sat in the LFS for a long time, so I am thinking if it were the regular apatasia, whey would have been fully grown and easy to see. And I know the lfs owner does not try to kill apatasia when he gets it every once in a while because you can watch it grow in his tanks.
any thoughts?

Well, there are some hydroids that look very much like tiny featherdusters. May be some pics in the hitch hiker thread in the new hobbyists forum.....

There are several types of aiptasia-looking critters.Mojanoes, tulip anemones..etc. I would take some kalk or Joe's and kill them if they are disturbing your zoanthids.
