hitchhiker?

i have not had my tank for long. it is 25 gallons with 3 inches of live sand 17 pounds of LR. one coral beauty angel fish one pink skunk clownfish. one lrg hermit crab 10 small hermit crabs. one coral banded shrimp 2 brittle stars, one horseshoe crab. lettuce N. (slug thing i cant remember how to spell) white sebia for my clownfish, and a flame scallop. also some mushrooms and other corals. as for the hitchhiker i bought a peppermint shrimp a couple of weeks ago. i just added some corals i got from saltwaterfish.com. look great by the way. one came on a four inch piece of live rock. this morning i had two peppermint shrimp. i know i only bought one cause i wanted to see how he would do. so i think he must have come on the coral. i have heard of things hitching a ride but he is kind of big to go unseen. could he have come on the rock i put in my tank a month ago as an egg or something?:notsure:

did your one peppermint molt and your second just be the shell? i made that mistake once with a decorator crab. if not then you got two for the price of one. then again they hide really well, there are a lot of times that i can't find mine in my ten gallon..

he molted a week ago it was just a clear shell of him. I took it out. the second one is half the size of the one i bought and it is alive and well he comes out and gets a pellet when i drop some in the tank and takes it back in his hidey hole. my rocks have lots of good hiding places good for them but sometimes i think my tank is empty. so far peace reigns and everyone has their own special place to hide.
