ok, this guys cousin was eating a zoa this morning. i got home last night to see that the small piece of rock had fallen upside down ontop of the zoas, would that have killed the one he was eating, making it fair game, or are these not reef safe?

its spelled Mithrax......
Good algae eaters but have been known to eat other things as well...

"Known to" is more adequately described as "tend to" eat soft corals. Though that guy looks more like he's covered in red slime than actually red heh. Didn't know there was a red mithrax.

mithrax are fine in the reef, it is known for them to munch on coral but only as a last resort to starving, in a fair size reef this wouldnt happen so you are lucky to get one!

alrighty, i was going to put some frozen food in tonight. with all the algae i have in my tank i wouldn't think they'd be hungry, but im one polyp short a head now :( i'm assuming it wont grow back.
