HLLE not ich

Alright here is the new deal. I have been having a rough time with my aquarium lately. My Regal Tangs came down with ich, they were treated and look better. But then they got what looked like little holes on their head. I thought the ich had returned. Turns out the Tangs were not eating a wide enough variety of foods. I give them broccoli and carrots all the time. They dont always eat the broccoli though, they love the carrot slices ( I use a cheese grater to grate fine slices and then attach them via the vegetable clip). I have started mixing all their food with Zoe and Zoecon, but this seems to make a mess. The fish seem like they have a hard time eating all the tiny little particles of food. they look like little dots by the time you let them sit in the supplements. Any suggestions as to what I should start feeding them?

Do your tangs have HLLE? You didn't exactly say.
What are you feeding the fish besides the carrots [which is a good choice BTW for treating HLLE].
For food, I mix up mine fresh. At the fresh seafood dept at the grocery store, I can usually get a seafood mix for about $5 that consists of squid, octapus, clams, shrimp, scallop, lobster, etc. Then add in seaweed and spirulina and any other vegetable you want your vegetarian fish to have, food process this with a bit of Zoe and Zoecon. Place this mixture in portion sizes in small cuts of tin foil then store in a sealed container in the freezer. I take out a pre-pak and use as needed. No mess, great food, and cheaper than all the frozen and flaked foods. The food processor will cut things up very nicely for the fish, too. My crabs, bristle worms and brittle stars LOVE it too.

Yes, my tangs do have HLLE. However, my 3 clownfish do not, and they are all in the same tank. The fresh seafood is a good idea, I never thought of something like this. Im think Im actually going to give this a try sometime this week. Is there any type of seafood that I should stay away from when feading my fish? Thanks for the info.

You are probably not getting enough greens in thier diet. Try green Seaweed selects soaked in zoe. While it may or may not help feeding carrots it is not a natural food like seaweed. I had fantastic results on my purple tang after feeding the above atleast every other day.

ya no this may sound strange, but, her goes... a lot of us have fish that are sick some of these fish if they are caught with poisons and sold to fish stores these fish are doomed anyway,we have to ask how these are being caught in the wild, and their is something else i have been made aware of?? their is somthing called( brooklynella ) this is where when the fish are caught in the wild they are held in a brook and kept their till they can be sold. and theis fish come down with this brooklynella and it spreads among the fish being held in this brook and then their sold to fish stores with this??? tank raised are the best but some need to be taught what they are to do in the tank?? some neons are afraid of fish tank raised ones an will not clean the fish.some clowns won't go to anemonies.

Dwarfs where did you get that from? Brooklynella also known as clownfish disease is imported with the fish. It is a protozo that spreads rapidly and is very deadly. Never heard anything about fish being kept in a brook.

Beth, Im not sure if your question was directed at me or not but I'll answer anyway. Yes, when I treated for ich I used copper. Another question I have is could my fish have a secondary infection that needs to be treated, as well as hlle?

How bad was the ick? Could these marks you are seeing be scaring? Scaring in HLLE also occurs.
There are many different theories about what causes ick, vitamin deficiency being only one of those theories. You may try SeaWeed Selects for your vegetarian fish [or if you can't get this, use Nori, which is the same thing].
Do you have a grounding probe? What are your water perimeters? Including Nitrates?

No grounding probe, I've heard of one but never seen one. My water parameters are:
SG - 1.019
temp - 77
ammonia - 0
nitrites - 0
nitrates - under 10 ppm
ph - 8.4
copper is still slightly detectable, I had a poly filter in but it turned blue so i removed it and have to purchase a new one tommorow. I plan on breaking down my entire tank before long to scrub it all out and remove all the cc substrate and switch over to sand.
quick question while Im at it too. Temperature of a tank? I have heard that keeping it above 76 is bad if you have anything besides fish in there, but others say to keep it around 80. I have 5 fish (2 hippo tangs and 2 true percs and 1 false perc) a decorater crab, a few red hermits, and a coral banded shrimp. I have no live rock, just peices of dead coral for the fish to hide. What do you suggest for temp and specific gravity?
