anyone have any pics of this, i believe my kole tang has it. Also how do i ground my tank, is that done by the grounded outlet plug?

Actually if you look in the thread "Diseased Fish" Beth talks about alot of different diseases and HLLE is one of them. She has some pretty nice pitures of it too. But since the upgrade i can't seem to see anyones pictures so hopefully you have better luck than i.

i feed him a variety of things along with my other fish. Bio-Blend staples, Formula 2 algea w/2% garlic, saltwater multi pack (squid, brine, and 2 others in that pack), along with dried seaweed.

Sounds like a decent diet... tangs are 90% herbivores so lots of greens are needed to keep them healthy. Zoecon or Selcon is a great diet supplement for them!!
You can buy grounding probes from about any on-line aquarium vendor or LFS. They are put into the water (usually in the sump) and plugged into the ground of the receptacle. This will drain off any stray voltage that may be in the tank's water.
Stress is another suspected cause so try to limit any stress in the tank...

thanks reefnut, thats one thing i read a lot about was their diet. I'm going to look into that zoecon / selcon /grounding probes. as for stress, i cant say that there is any. my kole follows my parrot and angel around everywhere and vice versa. they seem to get along great.

HLLE, is not pretty. In some cases, you will see a mild case [that frequently, if not attended to, will evolve into full-blown HLLE].

No, its not really contagious, thought what ever conditions that are in your aquaria may cause more than one fish to get this disease. There can be several culpriits. Stray voltage, less than ideal environment conditions [particularly with tangs], etc.
