HOB filter

Just a quick question. Is it ok to use the regular carbon filter in the HOB filter? I remember reading somewhere that the carbon filter does something to salt water tanks. Maybe it was just during the cycle. I cant remember

I use carbon in my saltwater tank and don't know a reason why you shouldn't.
If you don't change out the carbon often (I do it about every week to ten days) it will begin to break down in your tank.
