Caught my hogfish acting funny on its side in the sand this morning. Now i cant find it. I've had it for 2 months and never noticed anything wierd about his behavior. after researching the hog for the last 2 hours ive come to find that they are in the wrasse family and got their name from their "rooting" tendancies. Also, i guess its not extraordinary for them to burrow when frightened. I put in a Foxface yesterday, and am wondering if he is terrified of it. Like i said i cant find it and am concerned if it is alive or not. If anyone has info about this fish, i would really, really appreciate it. Thanks, B

My hog experience is limited to Cuban's, but I've seen Diana's clear out a cave for a hiding spot. I haven't seen them completely in the sand, like say a leopard wrasse. But he very well could be hiding, it's been for me that they really don't become bold until they're older/bigger and a new bigger fish could spook them for a bit.
