Today I rescaped my tank adding about 10 to 15 pounds of rock. When I lifted one peice of rock I found three bristle worms at least six inches long. Kind of startled me a bit. I cant believe they got so big without me ever seeing them. Every time i lfted a rock off the sand they were everywhere 1 to 6 inches in length.

most people capture them and take them out, its up to you what you want to do, they are detrius eaters they only eat dead decaying or dying organisms. they really cause no harm to your tank, and when they get to big they starve and die. you can pull them out then.

Agreed. They are a valuable part of the clean up crew.
I was stunned when I moved my 210. There was at least one that was over 12 inches long.

There freaky looking at that length. Like somthing from space. I could'nt even imagine how big they are in the ocean.

Just a few quick questions? Are these the worms that are mildly venomous? Should latex gloves be worn when rearranging Live Rock? Banded Coral Shrimp are natural predators? Anything else?
Thanks,

Certain subspecies of Bristle worms are called "Fireworms". They have tiny hairs that irritate the skin. Not all bristles are fireworms, however.
