Holy Crap, Puffer

WOw, I don't know what happened last night, but a couple of buddies and I were having some drinks in my house just watching the tank and conversing and all of a sudden POOOF, my dog faced puffer was the size of a Softball, I didn't think it got that big, it was the coolest thing i've ever seen, we were so surprised we just looked in awe, instead of taking pictures, finally when we came to our senses we broke out our camera phones, my friend got to take one pic but he was already starting to deflate, i'm going to put up the pic, anyone else seen this happen

Before I lost my porcupine puffer I saw him do it twice. But both times it was because he got his head sucked into the powerhead

. Later I got a guard so he couldn't get his head stuck. But it was priceless to look all over the tank fo the puffer and see a big spiky looking softball hanging under the PH. Scary at the moment but now I can look back on it and laugh.

My porc puffer did it a few times when he was under 4". Now he's closer to 7" and I doubt grabbing him and throttling him would even make him puff anymore. He would just bite at my hand for some food when I let him go.

yeah same with me had my porcupine puffer get some eye infection while i was away on vacay. came back...took it out to treat it and all the sudden it puffed up in the net the size of a basket ball..no joke my friend and i were freeking out because it was stuck in there and it wasnt like i could grab it and take it out....so put the net back int he tank until he unpuffed....kept puffing up....then eventully turned really light and died....dont understand...had him for over a year then all the sudden he died...he was about a foot long and beautyful...still got my valantini but hes not the same

I puffers inflate while out of water they can die instantly. Once my puffer was grabbing at some food and must have sucked in air. His side had this massive air bulge. I had to hold him underwater and work the bubble up until he expelled it.

YES i've seen this happen!!!! One of the funniest thing I've seen. I never actually seen what caused him to puff up but he was about 6inches long and puffed up almost to the size of a bowling ball!!! After he was all done puffing up he'd just shake all the air out!! Funny stuff.
