Home Depot yanks Military discount!

This morning on my usual Home Depot morning trip, I was advised by the cashier that they were not granting their usual discount to military members, except on holidays. WTH!
Could they really be losing that much money that they won't grant their measly 10% discount to those who serve 365 days (including holidays). The nearest Loew's is 45 minutes away but just might be worth the drive.
Pep Boys also jumped on this bandwagon a while ago and gives military discount on Tuesdays.

That is a store decision. Themilitary discount is always a store decision.....get a store manager next time and say you will shop elsewhere I bet that store changes its policy. Call their corporate office as well...you will be compensated and corporate will come down on the store manager for making a customer mad.

When I worked for Home Depot a number of years ago they only gave a discount to the military in the week surrounding Veterans, Memorial and Independance Days. It was a not a year round thing.

Poor economy is hitting the building business highest of all. And that is Home Depot's and Lowes bread and butter. Before driving to Lowes, you might want to call to see what they say about a discount.
Also, do you want your local HD to go under? Just saying. These type places are struggling.

As much as I shop there, they probably would go under if I didn't shop there. It's not like there's a military base down this far south though. I'll talk to the manager tomorrow. This border town's economy is so crappy, that if it wasn't for smuggling, a lot of places would be closed.
