Does anybody have a recipe for homemade foods? I have 3 new false perculas that refuse to eat. After 2 wks in qt I put them in an anemone tank containing 2 ltas 4 atlantic ltas and a small bubble tip a lawnmower blennie flame shrimp 6 turbos and 20 sm blueleg hermits. i have tried a number of foods in small amts. They swim up to the food as if they are gonna eat but just back off.
any help would be appreciated

What are you currently feeding. They are very easy fish to get to eat. Try some frozen cyclops or frozen foods like mysis or formula 1. Everything eats cyclopeeze.

Ive tried frozen brine shrimp -frozen marine cruisine-frozen prime reef -mysis shrimp and formula one and two flakes. Today one started eating brine shrimp-the second one is getting close to eating but the third one still wants nothing to do with food. I will try the cyclopeeze like you said if i can find around here. thanks for the reply earlybird.

If they are new there might be teritorry battles. Since there are 3 it's possible that the 3rd is being harassed the most. It's common knowledge in the hobby that clowns only do well in pairs unless you have a very large tank. In smaller tanks it's just a matter of time before one gets killed by another. Just FYI.

I made my own frozen food and my 2 onyx clowns go absolutely nuts for it, all my fish do. All fresh ingredients:
grouper (any low fat content fish will work)
clams
squid
shrimp
mussels
scallops
nori (sushi seaweed)
frozen cyclopeeze
garlic
tank water
all blended up into a nasty smelling brown slush. frozen into 3 separate ziplocks and allowed to freeze flat so I can cut it into cubes.
ive heard about people including broccoli and carrots and lettuce as well in their recipes. theres many other items you can include. my next batch, which i will have to make soon, will include zelcon and maybe sipirulina too.

I agree. The third was a very bad choice. You can have two pairs in a LARGE tank, but with the three it is entirely possible that they will all become female. They all start off as males. They change gender. If a clown is by itself or does not find a mate then it becomes female. Check your clowns. Keep the largest and the smallest. Take the third back. It will not work out well.

Yes i guess you can say they are new, i just took them out of qt on Tues.Sepulatian agreed with u about the third being a bad idea but the only reason i got three was i was on the fish section here and it read more than one can b kept in the same aquarium and they prefer to b kept in groups. Guess you cant believe everything you read, better to go with experience. im gonna do what sepulatian said and just keep the biggest and smallest ones and bring the other one back to lfs. THanks again for the reply.

Sounds good. Yeah, when you make your own it looks real gross. The fish like it though
Defrosted frozen food isn't much prettier. It all looks yucky. The fish love it though.
