Do a search on the net for aragocrete You will get lots of link . I found it was lots of work and too much time . When you can mail order for 3 or 4 $ a pound.

3 parts southdown
2 parts crushed coral ( I prefer to use crushed limestone)
1 part portland cement.
cure in water for 4-6 weeks.

use kisstheze mixture/ and dry mix in a bucket. use agrocrete. U can also use white vinegar to speed up the cure process to about a month.

Can anyone post a few pictures that show a close-up of homemade rock. I understand the mixture, but was wondering how and if it could look somewhat like the real deal. I am game for trying it though.
 
i made rock out of portland cement and crushed oyster shell and they came out good now its getting the purple stuff on it and it looks just like the other rock. i don't know how to post pics or i'd show you mine

It will not look like real live rock exactly until it gets growth on it .... I posted a whole bunch of pictures. I've sold some of mine inthe past and if you do a search in the nano's thread for Overanalyzer's 20 Gallon nano you will see lots of it!! I'll see if I can get the link to my ancient thread on this stuff!

Great thread - Since I can never seem to find the larger shelf pieces at my LFS, I'm going to try this 'rock recipe'. :) That's really cool Squidd.
