Wow very nice. Hey shot me an email @ charger21_sd@yahoo.com
I know a great site that is focused on sharks and rays and I know they'd love another shark keeper.

I wish swf.com sold sharks and rays. The only ray they sell is a yellow ray and that is rarely in stock.

Yeah - Awesome looking shark ;)
But it's not a Horn Shark (Heterodontus francisci). With those high crests over the eyes - it can only be one species of Heterodontus.
What you have is a Crested Port Jackson's Shark(Heterodontus galeatus) - which is much rarer in the U.S. than either the Horn or regular Port Jackson's.
They generally prefer water temps between 57-75F(14-24C), and can grow up to almost 5', although they usually average about 4'.
Just wondering how be it is now - definitely looks like a Juvenile.

yup, a juvenile, i got him at 400.00 at Nolan's Aquarium in Lake Land , Fl, it was 15 inches at the time, know its 26 inches, 1 year later, chiller set at 67, likes it at that temp, more active, plus at night, its really active, but usually likes to sit around, it was in a 144 half circle, that shark with along with a blue spotted ray was sold.

people just cause they look cool do not buy these. a couple reasns, one, most larger sharks, are more closer to endangered. bamboo sharks are of high supply but they require hundreds, a few hundreds atleast, of water, los of rock and sand, NO copper whatsoever, tons of time and money and skimmers and filters for htem to be happy.
keeping them alive and keeping them happy are two different things. just wanted to say that before so many people see this and wanna uy one...

Well - "Aquarium Sharks & Rays" suggests at least a 800 gallon tank for a Crested Port Jackson's.
Personally I would suggest at least a 1,200 gallons(12' long x 6' wide x 2.5' deep) pond for this shark, when it gets fully mature.
Good to hear that you have a chiller for this guy. Australian Heterodontids(namely the Port Jackson's) tend to prefer slightly cooler water than most other Heterodontids. Still 9" of growth in 1 year - is pretty fast for a Heterodontid.
