This past Saturday my 90 gallon tank sprung a leak, 90 gallons of water everywhere. To make a long story short I lost all my corals and fish.
The lfs replaced the tank, and now i worried about setting it up again. I dont know if I wanna put it in the same location in case of water damage...
The tank was on a wooden stand, i think All-glass makes it. Its the pine model. Anyways when i set it up the first time i leveled the stand only in the corners. I heard that it is neccessary to level it all the ways around w/ shims. I was wondering the best method to do this, i dont want anything like this happening again w/ the new tank
Also i was reading that people use styrofome b/w the tank and the stand. I was just wondering how this is accomplished because my stand is open in the center and would only touch the styrofome on the sides.
Here are some pics of my tank before the accident...
I think im gonna try an aggressive tank this time not sure yet though.
I loved my shrimp, he would get so excited at feeding time, i called him my little fata$$ :)

Sorry to hear about the leak. I have a AGA 90 gallon and I am really interested in what you think caused the leak or how it happened. Do you think it was the leveling?

I was watching americas funniest videos a couple nights ago and this kid had his bicycle in the room and knocked it over. The handle bar went right throught the tank side and emptied the tank. Everyone was laughing and all I could think about was those poor fish and all that money lost. Keep you spirits up and make you next tank even better, hard to do, that one looked pretty nice.

Seam leaks are strange...
My 45 sprung one at about 3 months into it...replaced the tank...2.5 years later...no problem and it has been moved three times.
I was lucky though..I discovered the leak when it had only lost about 1/3 of water...was dripping on my jointer in the basement...like a little water fountain squirting up from the plastic base of the tank...
I couldn't even imagine 90 gallons on the floor...
My 90 is on a set of ceramic tiles on top of 1/4 inch cement board...I slightly off leveled this towards the back corner of the corner it is in and put a drain through the tile stuff, oak floor and into the basement to a sink...I will (someday, been 2 years now), trim the tile edging in with routed oak trim.
The drain itself is a PVC shower stall drain grate (like 4.5inches diam) siliconed into a funnel to 1"PVC. Don't know if it will prevent all the mess of a 90 gallon leak or not, but it should prevent most of it.
Good luck in your new adventures.

i actually really confused as to why it broke, but i am leaning towards the fact that when i was leveling the tank i didnt support the entire side, just the corners. Which caused the wood to bow in the center and stress the tank till it leaked. it was only set-up for 6 months.
Thanks for the support guys... ill keep you all updated on the new tank. I just got the new tank painted, about to set it up.

If all of your corners are level, shouldn't it be entirely level along the sides also?

sorry to hear about your loss.
I have used styrofoam before. The idea is that is crushes and therefore insures better contact between the stand and tank.
