OK i know this wasnt my smartest purchase because there hard to keep in everything i read but one reason i gt into salt is because i wanted one of them. Ok so was at my local store and well they had two for sale and a 20% discount on all saltwater fish so l didnt think i just bought so i have one in my tank its 30 gal with 3-4 in sand bed. The crab is 5in long with tail body is 2.5in max. The problem im haveing is this i have a rather large piece of live rock in one side of the tank this thing dosent seem to want the open sand he wants to dig a hole in the sand in a corner that he can't fit in bbecause of the rock and glass. He keep trying with all his might to dig in there and fit in sideways and in turn he keeps getng stuck and im worried he going to tire himself out. Started callign him shermin because he keep trying to push his way iin that corner. spest 90% of the last 8 hrs just trying to get in there. I dont know what to do should i move the tank around to give him room or is it something wrong with him. Everything i see on them is there very mellow this guys seem to be on crack or speed he donen't stop

I've got 2 in a 55 gal. both about 3 in., I've got 3-4" sandbed, approx. 60-75 lbs. LR and they did the same thing and they got tired of trying and buried themselves somewhere else, good sandsifters but are very clumbsy swimmers.

I have one and its my mother-in-laws favorite fish. I know its not a fish but she loves it when he comes out and does the backstroke. Mine comes out at least once a week. I think he likes the rods food I feed the tank. Mine has survived alot and he just keeps on kicking.
