Greetings - My friends and I just bought a 1,000w Hortilux - blue bulb to grow some vegetables. It is a 1,000w MH that has a spectral range that covers every spectrum. Check out their website and you can see a chart of the specrum is covers. It has blue, purples, greens, reds, yellow, etc.
Has anyone ever experimented with these bulbs and reef tank growth? I would love to try it on mine sometime, but I think a 1,000w is a little too much for a 55 gallon
.
Ohh yeah, this thing is huge! Not sure if anyone could ever put it in a cabinet or anything.

haha, yeah...we get that a lot. We are actually growing banna peppers, jalepenos, bell, italian roasting peppers, tomatos, and a bunch of herbs to start out with.
Has anyone heard about how these lights work with reef tanks?
Here is a chart of the spectrum it covers:

lol, that is no vase. But that is not what I am growing. I will post pictures of the peppers and everything if necessary.
Really just want to know if these would work well for a reef tank with the huge spectrum range.

no we dont want the lower spectrum lower than 6500k cause it wil cause lots of algae growth. that size bulb would boil the tank too LOL

Just giving you a hard time the guys I work with give me hard time everytime they drop me off in the evening and see the blue cast on the lawn in the backyard when they pull down the driveway.

Thanks michael, that was what I was wondering. And definitely would not use that size bulb on a 55 gallon tank, lol.

There are three windows that span the front of my house and they all are bright blue all night. I have no idea what the neighbors are thinking.
Come on guys, so the guy has a weed operation, give him a break he likes saltwater stuff!
Well put Anglerman!
