Hosp tanks

I have an 10 gal tank available as a hospital tank. My question is: when I need it, how do I set it up? What do I need to have (i.e. equipment, etc..) for it to function as a hosp. tank? And should it be running all the time or how do I get it functional when I really need it?

if you are going to run a biological filter in it you need a fish in the tank to keep the tank alive. throw a green chromis in there and it will let your filter live :)

i keep a 10 gallon tank running for all my miscelaneous purposes. Right now it is curing 10 lbs of LR. Once this is done, I am going to dump that water and put in good saltwater. Basically, then it is just sitting there waiting to be used as a hosp. or quarantine tank. I have a powerhead with a small "filter" attachement...it's a poor excuse for a filter but it works... i also have a heater in there. It's not a bad idea to always have a small tank up and running.
