hospital/qt tank .... how to set up?

Basically the title says it all. Should I have any sand or LR in a qt tank? What if I am going to use copper to treat Ich? I was going to just get a 10g tank with a foam filter and keep doing water changes to keep the parameters good till ich is/would be dead.
Suggestions? Thoughts?

The basic hospital/qt has no LS or LR. You can have it but when you do treatment for ich or something it will just kill the rock and sand. Mostly the tank has not subtrate so some people paint the bottom, and then put in some PVC pipe for the fish to hide in. Then just have a filter, heater, ect. and do water changes to keep parameters where they should be.
