Hello,
I just purchased a 5 1/2 Gallon Hospital Tank with a small hearter. I've Coppermine to the water to treat a yellow tang.
Anyways, my question is:
1.)Do i get ride of the water and clean up the tank as soon as i cure the fish??
or
2.) Is the Hospital tank something you would leave just setup (only have a heater)all the time?? If you were to leave the tank setup all the time, wouldnt the water go bad just sitting there???
Please help!

First off,a hospital tank is supposed to be a stress free tank so the fish can heal with meds. Putting a yellow tang in a 5 1/2 gallon tank will surly in itself stress the fish to death.I would not use anything smaller than a 10,or a 15-20 would even be better for a tang.He will need to be in there for a month or more, and that small of a tank will not be a good hospital tank for that paticular fish. To directly answer your question,Yes,throw the water out after treatment.

Salty is right for the price difference a 10 or 20 would be better for most fish. I have one little 6 gallon tank and only use it for baby fish in qt or treatment otherwise they go in one of my 20's which gives them some room to roam.
