I just recently went out and bought equipment for a hospital tank, 10gal aquarium, undergravel filter, glass lid, air pump, anything else that I am missing?

Heater and small powerhead.

Should a hospital tank be cycled as well? With something as small as a 10g could I just stick with water changes? How about an airstone to help saturate the water with O2?

I use Aquaclear power filters on my hospital/quarantine tanks and don't leave them cycled. I just leave a bunch of the sponges my main tank sump and whenever I need to set up quarantine I move a sponge over and some water. This way is much easier than having to worry about keeping it cycled and following water parameters. Make sure obviously you are careful about cross contamination.

This is what I did and it worked for me. I got a 10 gall. to use as a hosp./QT. I added water from my main tank water change. Added a whisper 3 I had laying around, an airstone, and some cheap fake rock from the LFS. Instant tank, and perfect timing for me, had a fish get sick and is in there now and getting better. ;)
