hot magnum to treat ich?

I was at a pet show this past weekend and was speaking to a man who wrote and was promoting a book on aquatic diseases. We spoke about ich because I have had a previous outbreak which killed all of my fish. He suggested the use of a hot magnum to actually filter out the parasites-anyone heard of this? I havent and found it interesting. Lone behold, tonight I noticed my coral beauty was covered with the parasite. Upon closer examination, I found it on everyone. I tested the water and nothing has changed so they shouldnt be stressed. If this filter works to eliminate the parasite, I will go and buy one tomorrow! Id like some more info because I know barely anything about this filter. He mentioned the diatom powder/cartridge. Anyone with info please let me know-thanks

If you are having a ich problem you might want to set-up a QT tank for your fish at first before you place them in you tank. I keep my fish in QT foe about 3 weeks. If you cant do that I would try to find a product call Greenx at your LFS. This greenx is reef safe and is a 1 time treatment. Trust me it works great. Also try to lower your salt level down to 1.021

I only have a 10 gal qt. I have had these fish for a while with no poblem. I have 6 all together which will obviously not fit in that tank. Plus, Im leaving town for about a week in a week and no one to really watch these guys if I did put them in the qt. What about a sterilizer? Ill also look into the greenx.

Then I would just try the greenx. I use a 60 gallon QT tank for my fish. I also talked to people that do a ridex dip but never found out much info. on how to do the dipping of the fish. You might want to look at a RO water system as well.
Do you have coral in this tank?
If you dont have coral or live rock in your tank then you might be able to add the ridex to your tank but you might want to check with your LFS first and see what they say.

Don't waste your time with the Greenex. All it will do is turn your Silicone Green. There are only 2 real effective treatments for Ick. Hypo or Copper. If you don't have inverts or live rock, you can do Hypo right in the tank. Good Luck. Scott

im using a diatom filter on a salt tank that has ich i took out sick fish witch were only 2 coppr treared them for 3 weeks i have a diatom not amagnium witch is just a fancy diatom on the instructions it says it can remove ich from tank i dont really know if it works or not and i really havent figured out if using a diatom is more harmfull then better on salt they claim not to effect any bacteria levels im going to do a test after i finish using this filter i only use 1 hour perday for 3 days thats what they recomend for ich otherwise its a water polisher to use ocassionally for taking out medication or just a quick clean it might give you a little more time betwen water changes i only can tell u i get ich off my fish by putting them in hospital tank with copper ill post the results of the use of this filter and hopefully it can help u if your going to invest in this get a regular diatom a magnum has to be disconectsd and reconnected to switch it to a diatom and its not recommended to use on diffrent tanks were a diatom can be used on diffrent tanks by changing powder and it is simple to set up im hoping like u it isnt another empty ich promise :cheer:
