Housing Issues

if i were to make something to house my dogface i was thinking about the measurements:
246 gallon tank - 66”x36”x24” (most likely this)
205 gallon tank - 66”x30”x24”
would anyone suggest anything otherwise? i am really trying to not push the ammount of gallons but also trying to get it as long/wide as i need it for a full grown dogface. if i can go smaller please tell me and give measurements. also what else would be a cool fish to put in this pond setting. something definatly not a jumper and maybe not very sensitive to lower lighting standards??? i really wish i could have a ray but i have heard that a puff will nip at them, anyone have suggestions on this matter?

i was jw, i had thot they wer cold water species so i was thinking if u went tropical temp (72-78) the dogfish wouldnt do well, if u went cold water then the puffer wouldnt do well. if it was warm water the dogfishes metabolism would increase and he would die an early death. if it was coldwater the puffer would be unaccustomed to the chill and his metabolism would slow and he would die

i am just looking at this now and realizing that you think a dogface and a puffer are two different species. I have a Dogface Pufferfish. Its one fish, not two. i realize that it was miss spelled on my previous post, so sorry for the confusion. I did not mean a dog fish as in the shark. So my original question was if you had any good recomendations for tank mates and on the size of the tank i plan to build. please see the first post, thanks-

ooh, ok. be more specific by saying that. tankmates could be lions (possibly) docile triggers, wrasses, and basically anything except sharks and rays. a 125+ i would reccomend

As in a dogface that is in your advitar???
That looks fine for now i'd go longer as in 72-84 as they like to swim the face of the tank do depth in not an issue unless it is under 24". JMO

thanks shark bait, any suggestions as to maybe 1 more fish i would be able to house with him? it would be looking down like a pond, so not the typical tank side view keep in mind.

Coral Hind is a good mate with a puffer. They hide and come out to eat and the puffer will not go after him. A spotted grouper is also great but again they all get large. Any fish you put in with the puffer needs to be able to fight for food as puffers will eat almost everything you put in. So be mindful of that.
