Hi!
I have a 55 gallon tank and due to job changes, by husband and I are moving out of town. The place we are moving is about an hour and fifteen minutes by car from our current house. We have a plan to move the tank to the new place (my classroom until we decide to buy another house), but I wanted you all to read and approve or disapprove.
We plan to bag the fish, coral, and invertebrates into seperate bags and put then into a cooler to keep the temp regulated.
Water will be split into various tubs with lids (just enough so it isn't too heavy). Live rock will also be placed into tubs and covered with water. Tubs will all have a heater and bubble stone in them. The sand will be carefully removed and placed into tubs...but how do I do this without stirring up a ton of ammonia??
All water and living things will be placed into a mini van for the trip. Stand, tank, and equipment will be strategically placed and padded into our scuba trailer.
As soon as we arrive to our desination, all will be returned to the tank (equipment, water, sand, rocks)...but I was wondering...when is a good time to put all the critters back in. I know they can't be bagged for too long...but don't I need to give the chemistry in the tank a chance to relax too?
Any additional suggestions, comments, words of encouragement are appreciated. This is scary! Thanks!
Beth
