Ok, well i thought i would make a thread posting everything that i have and have done to my tank and see what everybody thinks on what i have done, what i should do, and what to do in the future.
Ok to start off i have a 20 gallon tank set up:
it used to be for freshwater a couple years ago but i decided to convert it into saltwater. i cleaned it out really good with a mixture of water and vinegar ( was suggested to me by somebody on this site)
I have 20 lbs of aragonite sand in the tank
It has bene cycling for about 3 weeks now and the ammonia is on its downfall and the nitrite is peaking
i have some fake corals and other decorations in the tank
i just recently added a striped damsel to my tank and am now in the process of getting him out

i have a whisper submersible heater rated for 10-30 gallon aquariums ( it doesnt say the wattage.. i checked everywhere)
i have a whisper 3 stage filter rated for 10 -15 gallon aquariums.. i used to have a second one but it recently decied to break down on me
my future fish plans are : ( once my parameters are settled and i get the damsel out!)
2 true percs
and some kind of dwarf angel
this tank will eventually be a QT for my next bigger tank that i plan on setting up after i get some birthday and xmas presents!
so i guess what im basically trying to say is what do you all think of how everything is so far i.e. equipment etc
sorry for the long post.. i know i hate reading the long posts too!

thanks again for all of you that spent the time reading it!

you will be very limited in your choice of dwarf angels, IMO the largest on you should/could get is the pygmy. lr?

Was the freshwater tank ever treated with copper? Something you have to watch out for.
I've never heard anyone say tanks are easier to care for without live rock. Live rock is a great habitat, filtration system, is natural, home to many microscopic and planktonic lifeforms, and is a great buffer. It doesn't require ANYTHING... not sure why anyone would tell you to not use it.
Go out and buy yourself some live rock. Then pick a particular species that would fit in your tank. Check it's needs, and base your other purchases on that.
