How big can a nano tank get?

I was wondering since im new if i should get a nano tank or a regular tank.

well not to be the bearer of bad news but a nano tank is much harder to take care of because you have to pay more attention to detail in a smaller tank one wrong move and BAM! all your fish and corals are dead. but usually nanos are cheaper IMO.
