How big can a toad fish get?

most toads dont get over 4". im not sure about the orange though. im not sure of thier growth rate either, but toads are small fish. later, bo

trey, i know what toads you are talking about. the gulf and oyster toadfish, i catch them all the time in seines and while fishing. yes they can get big and have an impressive set of dentures. the toadfish i thought he was referring to were the anglers/frogfish and other fish like those. later, bo

Yep, these "little" fellas are also known as Orange Ruffies. And I know some folks that have eaten them too. They say they're pretty good. They look like they should taste nasty. Trey is correct and I am sure of it as I have taken notes on them in the past. You don't wanna mess with those little guys because they have one helluva attitude. Hehehe. Most reach a little over a foot. They rarely exceed 15 inches in captivity but in the wild there are certain species that get REAL big. Cool fish though.

orange ruffie or roughie which ever one it is is actually a good tasting fish. you need to try it some day. yes the toads will croak, croak, and croak some more. it will drive you nuts. these guys are serious predators with large mouths and will eat anything they can get there mouths on even if it doesnt fit. i once caught a large gulf toadfish about 12" that ate a large pilchard i was using while fishing for speckled trout. the pilchard was easily 5" long. later, bo

I have had this one for anout 6 months and iv never heard if make any noises, and yes, it is a seriose preditor, but thats what i luv about em' 
and my other fish are sake from him becasue there in a preditor tank, heres what i have in it:
Oranage Toadfish
Porkipine Puffer
Snowflake eel
Red Lion fish

I got an Orange toad about 2 weeks ago that is about 4" long and he just ate some squid for the first time today, I haven't seen any aggression from him towards other fish or me, he likes to hang out on the lettuce clip on the top of my tank and he lets me pet him, maybe with age and size will come the aggression.
